Genealogy Database Reaches 400,000 Name Milestone

Genealogy Today (www.genealogytoday.com) announced that Family Tree Connection, a subscription service offering researchers access to unique family history information, has surpassed a total of 400,000 names this month.

Family Tree Connection contains genealogical data from over 1,800 resources, capturing vital records and hard-to-find details of the lives of ancestors. Every weekday new items are added to the collection -- capturing approximately 7,500 new names each week. Subscribers (and non-subscribers as well) can efficiently filter the updates with a free service called Surname Tracker that sends an email whenever information matching their surnames is added.

"The best thing about hitting these milestones is that with more names online we're able to help more researchers," explained Illya D'Addezio, owner of Genealogy Today. "It's so rewarding to know that every day someone using our database is finding out new things about their ancestors and perhaps even locating that missing relative they've been search for."

The Family Tree Connection is a collection of data indexed from a variety of secondary sources including church records, cemetery transcriptions, high school and college yearbooks, club and society member lists, insurance company claims, telephone directories and much more. All of the information is carefully recorded along with the source, date, location and page number. Most of the records are from between the years 1830 and 1930, making the database an excellent supplement to U. S. Census research.

In her article "Uncommonly Good" (Family Tree Magazine, December 2005), Lauren Eisenstodt said, "Family Tree Connection serves up off-the-beaten-path records you won't find elsewhere online. Learning such details as ancestors' professions and affiliations certainly makes their everyday lives more interesting and easier to imagine."

Added to the thousands of names added each week are photos from the resources when the name of the individual is indicated. The images are linked to the related database records and accessible to subscribers for downloading.

Annual subscriptions offer unlimited access to the Family Tree Connection database, along with a 5% discount on all purchases in The Marketplace at Genealogy Today. The regular price for a one-year subscription is $29.95 with discounts for 24 and 36 month subscriptions. Visitors can sample the database risk-free by using the index search to see if there are any possible matches before they subscribe.
