Turning Over New Leaves

The World According to Bardens

by Judy Sander Cockrell

I have a family here that requires several books to cover…. It's the Barden, Bardeen, Bardin, Borden, Bardine, Burdin, Bardens, Bardine line…. Whew! Did I leave anybody out?

Seems to me, that this kinship is a huge one. And have I got a resourceful site if you ever have a Bardenish moment in your family search!

But, before I get to that, I recently bought a The Barden - Bardeen Book, because I had an inkling for a Barden or two in my own roots. Then I thought, maybe I can help a cousin or two out with some new found information, so I offerred to do lookups.

What the heck, I'll do a look up or two. Or three, or a hundred and fifty... Yikes! The response was absolutely overwelming. You must be a Barden, are you sure? Positive? Good, I'm exausted. No really, I will still do lookups for friendly Barden family members….

But before you ask, please visit this wonderful cousin in the UK, who is the most kind and patient cousin for all the thousands of "B" kin in the world. I am proud to introduce you to Penelope Willstrop, the owner of my focus site of the week.

Although I started the research in 1967 it was much more difficult then to discover anything. My first interest was researching my family name Willstrop. In June 1999, we had the first Willstrop reunion of the last millennium (as far as I know!) in York, England.

At that reunion there were Willstrop cousins from Texas and Chicago found via the internet. Quite apart from family history the Internet does have the power to make the world smaller. I think it is as though we are all back in the 1800s and living in one street. We can pop in and out of each other's houses.

I have made many friends through the Internet in various parts of the world - The world is clearly shrinking!

Best wishes
Penny

I just love her interpretation of the internet and finding family. Yes, if you're a good little Barden, I'll tell you where you can get the "B" book all for yourself!

But wait! To put a little icing on the cake, if you tell one roots-bound friend about our site GenealogyToday.com, I will do a free lookup for you... Just say the magic word…… Barden!
