Turning Over New Leaves

Motherless

by Judy Sander Cockrell

There are many of us in this big world of ours that share the same sadness. We are motherless daughters. I am well aware that there are many, many motherless sons out there as well, but because I am a daughter, I can only speak for myself and my gender.

In fact, this may be the first time since my mothers death, that I have recognized it, and most of all…..written about it. It has been nearly 13 years, but it seems like yesterday. Sad things always seem like yesterday……..

I found Carrie Nelson's site, quite by accident. In fact, in all my perusing the internet, looking for family, it never dawned on me that a site like this may exist. I'm sure there are many, but I found this one especially moving.

If you really think about it, most of us wait until after the death of our parents before we become interested in genealogy. Why is that I wondered?

For me, I just flat took life, my family, and all its history for granted. Never did it cross my mind to think, that I was here, purely because they were all here. Like many things, life sure can change in a hurry.

Carrie Nelson amd her husband John, have four chldren, Meagan, Beth, Anna, and Jennifer, and if that isn't full time enough for you, take a look at this heart warming site she has put together called "Motherloss."
